PHINMA UI offers scholarship grants to ensure that more students get the chance to have quality education. Our Handog Kaibigan Scholarship is our flagship grant that provides 50% discount on tuition & miscellaneous fees for four years for our more financially-challenged students. 1. PHINMA Scholarship (formerly Presidential Scholarship)

PHINMA UI offers scholarship grants to ensure that more students get the chance to have quality education. Our Handog Kaibigan Scholarship is our flagship grant that provides 50% discount on tuition & miscellaneous fees for four years for our more financially-challenged students. Check our complete list of scholarships below:

    Benefits:
  • 100% coverage on tuition and fees, other fees, miscellaneous, and laboratory fees.
  • An allowance of Php4,000 every month for 10 months every school year.
    Eligibility:
  1. The student must be one of the 10 best students of selected senior high schools.
  2. The student must pursue a priority board program.
  3. The student must pass the scholarship qualifying examination.
    Maintenance:
  1. The student must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 1.75.
  2. The student must not have a grade lower than 2.
  3. The student must not have a mark of Incomplete, Dropped, and Failed.
  4. The student must have a full load.
  5. The student must not have any disciplinary action.
  6. The student must do 10 service hours per week.

2. Academic Scholarship

    A. With High Honors
  • 100% coverage of the tuition is given to students with high honors in any senior high school with at least 100 graduates in the batch.
    Benefits:
  • 100% coverage of the tuition
    Requirements:
  1. Certificate that he/she graduated with high honors of his/her batch and with at least 100 graduates.
  2. Photocopy of his/her Form 137
    Maintenance:
  1. The student must be part of the Dean’s List
  2. The student must not have a mark of Incomplete, Dropped, and Failed.
  3. The student must have a full load.
  4. The student must not have any disciplinary action.
  5. The student must do 10 service hours per week.
    B. With Honors
  • 50% coverage of the tuition is given to students with honors in any senior high school with at least 100 graduates in the batch.

    Requirements:
  1. Certificate that he/she graduated with honors of his/her batch and with at least 100 graduates.

C. Dean’s List
  1. Dean’s List Full Scholarship 100% coverage on tuition is given to the top 1 – 10 students on the Dean’s List
      Benefits:
    • 100% coverage on tuition
      Requirements:
    1. The Official Dean’s List is generated by the Registrar’s Office every semester.
  2. Dean’s List Half Scholarship 50% coverage on tuition is given to the top 11 – 25 students on the Dean’s List
      Benefits:
    • 50% coverage on tuition
      Requirements:
    1. The Official Dean’s List is generated by the Registrar’s Office every semester.
D. Most Outstanding Student
    Benefits:
  • 100% off on tuition fee
    Eligibility:
  1. Student must finish the school year as the most outstanding student of his/her batch (Basic Education Department).
    Requirements:
  1. A certificate that the student is the most outstanding student of his/her batch signed by the Basic Education Department Principal

3. Non-Academic Scholarship

100% (with duty) or 50% off the tuition fee. Must be in good class standing. No maintaining grade. Applicable during regular semester and summer.

    Requirements:
  • Certification of Employment from PHINMA UI HR
  • Birth Certificate of the child
  • Enrollment Registration
  1. Handog Kaibigan Scholarship Program
      Benefits:
    • 50% coverage on Tuition and Miscellaneous
      Eligibility:
    • The student must be an incoming freshman.
    • The student must belong to a low-income family.
    • The student must pass the scholarship exam.
      Requirements:
      The student must submit the following documents at the Marketing Department, on or before the set deadline:
    • Certificate of Indigency
    • Form 137
    • Certificate of Good Moral Character
    • NSO Birth Certificate
      Maintenance:
    • The scholarship extends for the normal during of the chosen program of the school during the freshmen year.
    • Must be able to render 180 hours/semester
  2. Student Assistants and Student Marshal Scholarship
    1. Student Assistant
        Benefits:
      • 100% coverage on tuition fee
        Eligibility:
      • The student must belong to a low-income family
      • The student must not have any failing grade
      • No disciplinary record
      • Must enroll a maximum of 24 units only
        Maintenance:
      • The student must not have a mark of Incomplete, Dropped, and Failed.
      • The student is required every week to his/her office/canteen/food strip assignment.
      • SA’s are required to attend to monthly meetings, and other institutional activities.
    2. Student Assistantship (Security and Maintenance)
        Benefits:
      • 100% coverage on tuition and miscellaneous fees
        Eligibility:
      • The student must belong to a low-income family
      • The student must not have any failing grade
      • No disciplinary record
      • Must enroll a maximum of 24 units only
        Maintenance:
      • The student must not have a mark of Incomplete, Dropped, and Failed.
      • The student is required every week to the security or Iclean Team.
      • Student assistants are required to attend to monthly meetings, and other institutional activities.
  3. ROTC Corp Commander
      Benefits:
    • 100% coverage on tuition fee
      Eligibility:
    • The student must be the Corp Commander of the ROTC Unit of the university
  4. Educational Discount for Government Employees (EDGE)/Serving Those Who Serve (STWS)
      Benefits:
    • 25% discount on tuition fee
      Eligibility:
    • The student must be a child of a (retired)government employee
  5. Alumni Discount
      Benefits:
    • 10% discount on tuition fee
      Eligibility:
    • The student must be a child of an alumni
  6. Kapamilya Discount
      Benefits:
    • 2nd child enrolled - 10% discount on Tuition Fee
    • 3rd child enrolled - 25% discount on Tuition Fee
    • 4th child enrolled - 50% discount on Tuition Fee
      Eligibility:
    • The student must have two or more siblings studying in the university at the same time.
  7. Employee Dependents
      The benefits are available to:
    • Regular non-teaching employees
    • Tenured faculty members
    • Full-time contractual/probationary faculty, who have served at least 2 semesters in the institution
      Benefits:
      For married or single employees:
    1. A spouse may avail of a 50% scholarship to the Law (if available) or Graduate School Department. This scholarship is only good for the number of years and units specified by the Program.
    2. Dependent children or siblings may avail of a scholarship subject to the guidelines below
      1. Limitations:
        1. Maximum of four (4) children or siblings at any given point in time.
        2. Aged 21 years or younger at the time of registration.

      2. Coverage:
        1. 100% scholarship for Elementary, Secondary, or Tertiary Programs for the four (4) eldest children in the institution; or for two (2) siblings.
        2. 50% scholarship for Elementary, Secondary, or Tertiary Programs for the rest of the sibling/s not exceeding four in all at a time.

      3. Other guidelines:
        1. The scholarship covers only the tuition fee for the enrolled Program.
        2. Dependent children and siblings enrolled in Tertiary Programs have a ten (10) – hour weekly service requirement in the school regardless of the amount of the scholarship.
        3. In case a child or sibling is eligible for another scholarship (e.g. PHINMA Financial Scholarship), he or she can avail only of one (1) scholarship. Scholarship benefits cannot be combined. Guideline i.1 is still applied in this case.
        4. The scholarship is only good for the number of years and units specified by the Program being taken by the children/siblings.
        5. When the student shifts to another program, s/he may only avail of the scholarship for the remaining years based on the first program enrolled.

4. Financial Assistance

A. University of Iloilo Scholarship Fund

    Guidelines:
  • A UI SF Committee is formed and is chaired by the CSDL Director.
  • Applicants must be bona fide students of the University of Iloilo upon application. (Application Form must be submitted to the CSDL Office and personal/panel interview is scheduled by the CSDL Director).
  • UI-SF Committee interviews the student.Additional documentation may be asked as supporting documents to the request for financial assistance.
  • Evaluation of each application is done by the UI SF Committee.
  • Approval or Denial of request is done by the UI-SF Committee not more than 5 working days after form and complete requirements are submitted.
  • The UI SF Committee submits to the COO the list of the approved applications.
  • UI-SF Committee led by the CSDL Director submits to the Accounting Office the list of the approved requests for proper transfer of funds from the UI SF Fund to the student’s account.
  • Students are notified of the decision and the amount of the financial assistance approved.(Approved Financial Educational Assistance may range from a minimum of Php 2,000. to a maximum of Php20,000. per semester.) However, students may re-apply again the following semester.
  • The decision of the UI-SF committee is Final.
  • The UISF beneficiary shall render duty hours. Number of hours and designation will be decided upon by the UISF committee.
